About Yidao

For twelve years, one thing: making sure the books hold up under examination.

Yidao Financial Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established in January 2014. We work across two core areas — cost management and risk control — delivering end-to-end professional services on site, in the client's own operation.

Yidao is a firm built on the genuine integration of business, finance and tax. We do not treat tax as bookkeeping after the fact; we look at the business from where finance and tax sit. Business structure determines the tax outcome — a judgement our work has confirmed repeatedly over twelve years.

In recent years we have narrowed our delivery model down to forward-deployed engineering: the tooling is installed at the client's site and our own specialists gather the evidence and form the judgement there. Whatever can be automated is automated to the limit; whatever cannot is done by people who turn up. The unit of delivery is one of sixteen product modules and 109 standard work units, not a vague “consulting service”.

Tax controversy and financial advisory are no longer a parallel third each. They are two capabilities beneath the delivery model: the first demands experience and negotiating skill, the second demands method and tooling, and both are executed through the same evidence standard and the same seven stage gates.

From 2021 we invested in proprietary tax risk detection tooling, modularising and standardising 264 tax risk points so that a company's tax position could be quantified for the first time. From 2023 the focus shifted to preventing risk before it crystallises; from 2025 we brought intelligent technology into financial analysis and on-site delivery; in 2026 manufacturing cost and equipment assets became a delivery line of their own, completing the toolset we work with today.

Today the group has six wholly-owned offices including Hong Kong, with more than 100 delivery partners across 32 provinces and autonomous regions, and over 4,000 companies served. The engagement archive holds 213 consulting files, and the industrial manufacturing clients among them span more than ten sub-sectors. The platform brings together more than 30 practitioners drawn from government, academia, industry, tax firms, accounting firms and law firms, each with at least ten years in practice.

2005–2008, accounting department of the XXX (Nigeria) group: worked through manufacturing cost computation and led the redesign of cost accounting and management method at three plants.

2008–2009, R&D controller and project controller at the Asia-Pacific headquarters of XXX China: built the region's first R&D finance management framework, completed 62 project business plans for the China organisation, supervised business plan execution at five plants, and was the only Chinese national on the Asia-Pacific investment committee's project business plans.

2010–2014, shareholder and head of finance, HR and administration at XXX Telecommunications Technology: built and maintained the finance, HR and ERP systems and led investment analysis and decisions on industrial projects.

Based in Shanghai, leading the team on on-site evidence gathering, working paper review and client liaison, and performing the Tier 3 and Tier 4 procedures on forward-deployed engagements.

Specialist capacity is the real ceiling in this profession. Yidao caps the number of deep on-site engagements running in parallel, so that a partner genuinely reviews each one rather than lending a name to it. The team also includes more than ten instructors, divided between policy feasibility, proposals and pricing, and delivery execution, and has built 12 mature training curricula, over 320 training assets and 157 contract templates.

Three constraints we hold ourselves to

These are not slogans. They are written into the engagement letter, and they are grounds on which we will decline or stop an engagement.

The engagement relationship is settled first

Before work begins we confirm in writing who the client is, what the report is for, and how far it may be disclosed. A report whose own client is unclear carries no weight with a bank or a regulator, and can rebound on the person who commissioned it.

The data never leaves the premises

All analytical tooling runs on the client's own machines or inside our isolated environment. Ledgers, bank data and invoices are not uploaded to third-party cloud services. Production-side capture is read-only against equipment controllers, never wired into a control loop, and carries no downtime risk. Anything that does leave the client is irreversibly de-identified and aggregated, and is not published at all if the sample is too small.

How sensitive findings will be handled is agreed in advance

On-site work can surface findings that conflict with what the client hoped for. The handling rule must be written into the engagement letter at the outset — not negotiated once the finding exists, when every option is already compromised.
